In 1980 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and told that I would never walk again let alone dance. One year later, with the help of Dr. Sam Getland, personal research, diet, and lifestyle change I was able to recover fully and perform again.

There are at least 130 different types of arthritis. Everyone must realize that each person's situation, such as my own, is different. My recovery was a result of a determined effort to seek an alternative source of treatment. The best I can do is to encourage each of you to seek your own personal answer. The doctor who helped me so much with nutrition and diet unfortunately has since passed away but he did give me a general cleansing diet to pass on.

I also had good success with yoga. It was very difficult to move at first, but in time it was helpful for circulation and building strength. Do what you can, never push! Another important and crucial aspect of healing is psychological. I sought professional help to resolve some conflicting feelings. I was then more able to give myself compassion and understanding. I'm convinced that these loving attitudes enabled me to recover fully.

I am still gathering information to present these complex issues of non-traditional treatment in a more thorough way. I feel the best way to share this information is in book form. I am now working on a book with the writer Gregg Lawrence called "TIME STEPS- MY MUSICAL COMEDY LIFE", published by Simon and Shuster in September 2006.
